"Providing Information and Training to Public Safety Officials involved in Safety Code Administration"

The Northern New Mexico Association of Public Safety Officials is dedicated to the improvement of building safety by promoting consistency of building, fire and zoning codes. Applying sound ordinance interpretation and improve the permitting and inspection process through information sharing, training and  education. And working with the public and elected officials on the importance of good safety practices and model building and fire prevention.

About the Presenter

Doug Thornburg is currently Vice-President and Technical Director of Products and Services for the International Code Council (ICC) where he provides administrative and technical leadership for the ICC product development activities, creates and presents building code seminars nationally, and develops numerous educational texts and resource materials. 

A graduate of Kansas State University and a registered architect, Doug has over 37 years of experience in building code training and administration and was presented with ICC’s inaugural Educator of the Year Award in 2008,. He has authored a variety of code-related support publications, including the IBC Illustrated Handbook and the Significant Changes to the International Building Code.
